WRF(Weather Research & Forecasting) - This model, is a next-generation mesocale numerical weather prediction system, designed to serve both operational forecasting and atmospheric research needs. WRF, which is running on our server, is a cooperation between NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research), NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction), FSL (Forecast Systems Laboratory), AFWA (Air Force Weather Agency), NRL (Naval Research Laboratory), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the University of Oklahoma.

GFS(Global Forecast System) - It is a global numerical prediction system NWP(Numerical Weather Prediction), directed by NOAA.

YR(yr.no) - The meteorological data from yr.no, with default 4 km analysis, are the best selection for the meteorological models which run at met.no and are interpolated with them into a common dataset. Provided by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

dBZ - Stands for decibels relative to Z. It is a meteorological measure of equivalent reflectivity (Z) of a Dopler type radar signal reflected off a remote object.

CAPE(Convective Available Potential Energy) - Or simply APE(Available Potential Energy). It is the amount of energy a parcel of air would have, if lifted a certain distance vertically through the atmosphere.

CIN(Convective Inhibition) - It is the amount of energy required to overcome the negatively buoyant energy the environment exerts on an air parcel.

K Index - It is an instability index, used for measuring the thunderstorm potential, based on vertical temperature lapse rate, moisture content of the lower atmosphere, and the vertical extent of the moist layer.

LI-Index(Lifted Index) - It is an instability index, used to assess low level parcel instability of the troposphere. The more negative the LI the more unstable the troposphere and the more buoyant the acceleration will be for rising parcels of air from the PBL (Planetary Boundary Layer).

TT Index(Convective Index) - It is an instability index, used for forecasting severe weather.

SRH(Storm Relative Helicity) - It is a measure of the potential for cyclonic updraft rotation in right-moving supercells, and is calculated for the lowest 1 km and 3 km layers above ground level.

LLS(Low Level Shear) - It is a value from the variation of shear wind over either horizontal or vertical distances for the lowest layers from 0 to 1 km.

DLS(Deep Layer Shear) - It is a value from the difference between the shear wind vectors at 6 km and the wind at the surface.
